This kit depicts the launch vehicle for the Explorer 1 satellite. The kit parts are beautifully cast with crisp details, a smooth surface finish and no visible airholes. All parts, except for the engine nozzles, are solidly molded. The engine nozzle is hollowed out. The Explorer 1 satellite part is very thin and fragile and (on my sample) wasn't quite straight: care should be taken when handling the part to straighten it. The fins are very nicely done, with the complicated curves molded in place. All parts are still attached to their pour plugs. You won't use all of the decals included, since the decal sheet is common to Juno I and Jupiter C kits. In addition to the graphical assembly instructions, the instruction sheet includes a short program history and a four view painting and decaling guide.
